Siemens als Weltmarktführer in der Automatisierungstechnik ist ständig gezwungen seine Produkte aktuell und technisch auf dem letzten Stand zu halten. Dadurch wird die Zeit innerhalb derer etablierte Produkte vom Markt genommen werden immer kürzer. Der Hersteller will natürlich neue Produkte in den Markt bringen und die abgekündigten Baugruppen ersetzen. In manchen Fällen ist dies aus Kostengründen oder aus technischen Gründen nicht möglich.
